云开衡岳积阴止，
Clouds break o’er Southern Moutains and deep gloom’s dispelled;
天马凤凰春树里。
Peaks amid vernal trees look like phoenix and horse.
年少峥嵘屈贾才，
While young, like Qu and Jia in talent you excelled;
山川奇气曾钟此。
Mountains and streams inspire you with tremendous force.
君行吾为发浩歌，
You’re going and I’m singing strirring songs for you;
鲲鹏击浪从兹始。
The gian roc will beat the waves from now and here.

洞庭湘水涨连天，
The lake and rive strtching skyward out of view;
艟艨巨舰直东指。
Your steamer like a warship to the east will steer.
无端散出一天愁，
My sorrow for no reason overspreads the sky;
幸被东风吹万里。
Luckily the east wind blows it to the far-off land.
丈夫何事足萦怀，
For nothing burdening his mind a man should sigh
要将宇宙看稊米。
But see the world as if it were a grain of sand.
沧海横流安足虑，
Don’t worry about counter-currents in the sea
世事纷纭何足理。
And pay no heed to world events in sorry plight.

管却自家身与心，
Take care your body and your soul be pure and free;
胸中日月常新美。
And sun and moon e’er shed on your mind a new light.
名世于今五百年，
High fame will last not longer than five hundred years;
诸公碌碌皆余子。
The mediocre cannot boast that they are great.
平浪宫前友谊多，
Before Waves-Calming Palace friendly smile appears;
崇明对马衣带水。
A strip of water severs our land from their strait.
东瀛濯剑有书还，
I leave the seaside cliff when I see you no more.
我返自崖君去矣。
Write to me when you wash your sword by Eastern Shore!
